PLANNING PLANNING PLANNING!
You would think that I am going away for days without a chance to see a rest stop! I am only going 30 minutes away to my parents house but I cooked like I'm afraid that I will starve to death! Haha! I mentioned that I was fearful of leaving the safety of my own kitchen for the time that I will be spending at my parents while my family is here from out of town...so after I came home from the grocery shopping trip I made up some turkey burgers. Weighed each out, put them on the trusty George Forman grill and made 5 nice (just under 4 ounces each) burgers. I even enjoyed one for lunch. I had it on top of some fresh spinach with plum tomatoes and a slice of reduced fat swiss cheese. YUM!
A little later I prepared a snack:
This looks like it shouts DIET huh? lol I enjoyed it- just some pepper on top of the cottage cheese- although I wanted to add salt too but I dont want to get PUFFY before WI tomorrow! lol
My back decided that I did far too much for the day. I was BAD and went to the produce market (without my helper boy Sean) and carried the hand basket. I really should of gotten the cart to push, but the store is so crowded and I feel like I am in the way and can't get down the aisles with the cart. :( Anyway I decided to have a cup of coffee and relax for the rest of the day.
Coffee is way more fun to drink when it's served in a cool mug- This was part of my BLOG BUDDY EXCHANGE gift from Carlos. THANKS! :)
I have a busy day tomorrow! Weight Watchers meeting-crossing my fingers- then a trip to the airport to get my brother. YIPEEE!! Im excited to see him again. Hope to log on at some point to post my WI results, I hope it's good news! :)
BYE!

Sunday Food Splurge
We picked up my Aunt Jody from the airport Sunday and planned on an early dinner at Humphry's restaurant out by my parents house. We have been going to this restaurant for years and one of my favorite dishes is the calamari steak. Check out the deliciousness:
I follow weight watchers for those of you who dont know- and I planned ahead to eat my favorite meal all week. I had 13 daily points lefts (after breakfast & lunch) and 26 weekly points remaining. My problem with this meal is knowing just how many points it is. I have NO idea how to add it up. Anyway I told myself I was going to eat 1/2, no bread (which is to die for delicious), no clam chowder soup (also to die for) and no potatoes or rice- order double veggie. I obeyed, I ate, I enjoyed. Then I just crossed off the rest of the daily and weekly points that I was allowed. I do it this way not because I thought my dinner was 39 points but I know no other way to figure out the food I ate and today (Monday) is the day before weigh in and I usually lay low as far as splurging goes. Anyway, how do any of you- who follow WW- count your meals out that are difficult to decipher??
So the hot weather yesterday turned into a challenge. We started off about 35 miles from my parents house at the airport. It was 90 degrees when we got in the car. I bet that it was going to be 107 when we got to their house...my Aunt said 108, and Sean bet 106. I WON... 107 it was! Nice and toasty huh? lol Hoping today is a little cooler...thank GOD for air conditioners! :)
Off to get some groceries today and try to stay cool. Hope everyone is having a good day! :)

Breakfast POM Smoothy
The heat has me feeling a lil like skipping breakfast today - which if you know me is UNHEARD of! lol So I took out the blender and decided to put that POM to good use.
1- 8 ounce bottle of POM- 100% Pomegranate juice
1/4 cup fresh blueberries (that was all I had left in my container- you could use more if you have them)
1/2 frozen banana
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1 teaspoon Macro Greens- superfood supplement
1 1/2 cups fresh spinach
This is SO yummy! Im sipping it now as I type and it is a little tart from the juice (I usually use almond breeze or soy milk) so it is a nice change from my usual smoothy. Perfect way to beat the heat and drink my breakfast this morning! :)

Feeling HOT HOT HOT!
I did more than just feel hot today (and no, I dont mean HOT in a sexy way lol) I felt like I was in HELL! I hate the heat...I don't mind a lil warm weather but when it is so hot that you have to come home from shopping to just sit in side the air-conditioned house...that's what I call nasty hot! The local news said it was 106- yep pure nastiness! Let's see what did I do today... My Mom and I enjoyed a nice lunch at Chili's today. I love the guiltless grill chicken sandwich with buffalo sauce on the side- YUM! Take a peek-
We went to a few stores to do some shopping but the heat got to us and we came home. This morning when I spoke to my Mom we decided to make BIG salads for dinner. We call these Elaine salads- from Seinfeld, yeah ok- so we talked about all of the salad stuff we both had and I brought all of my produce over to her house and we made Elaine salads. Nice on a hot day- no cooking involved! This is mine:
I also had a weight watchers giant latte bar for dessert. My Mom bought them for me and I left them at her house mostly cuz I have a really small freezer and mine is PACKED but also so I can have a treat over there when I visit. :) Tomorrow Sean and I pick up my Aunt! Im super excited and looking forward to a fun week! I go back to the airport on Tuesday to get my brother too! I should start an airport shuttle service business! Haha :) Ok off to make some popcorn and see what I can find to watch on TV! Hope everyone is having a GREAT weekend! BYE!

POM FREEBIES! - this week will be a challenge!
Thank you to the wonderful people at POM for sending me a case of pomegranate juice to try. I love pomegranate juice and when I do buy it, POM is the only brand I buy. It is 100% juice and if you need to know more about all of the great health benefits that a glass of juice can give ya, check out their website -POM WONDERFUL- which has a great recipe section too! I saw a smoothie recipe that I know I will be making soon! YUM! When I drink POM I like to add it to some bubbly water with a squeeze of lemon or lime- or even add it to some diet 7-up. This is a refreshing drink on a HOT day! :) Thanks again POM peeps!
This coming week will be a busy one for me. We pick up my Aunt who is flying in from NY tomorrow. I am very excited! When I talked to her yesterday she asked if she will recognize me at the airport. lol Its been a while since I've seen her- 57 pounds ago! YIKES! I actually like when I see someone that I haven't seen in a while. I like their reaction- I think I NEED their reaction. lol I know that my tags on my shorts and tops these days are smaller but mentally I am behind schedule on the weight loss. It is always nice to get cheered on by my family and I am looking forward to my Aunt's visit. :)
What I am NOT looking forward to this week are temptations that come with being away from my "safe kitchen" lol I know where we are eating Sunday for dinner, know that my Mom is making dinner on Tuesday that I will be drooling over, I know that Friday will be an evening at my favorite Mexican restaurant (that I have not been to in a LONG time) then on the 4th we are going to BBQ a bunch of things- including some chicken that Im already looking forward to. :) YES, I am planning already for the ENTIRE week. I know that I have to to be successful. Hopefully I will stay on track. I plan on bringing some side dishes on the 4th that my Mom already asked me to make and I will as always pack some snacks up to help me stay away from munching on any tempting stuff that my family has out. In the past I would have looked at this coming week and used it as a bingeing feast. I know I have come a long way from those days, and who cares if I gotta plan a week ahead- I'm going to do what works for me! :)
I plan on taking pictures and popping in here and there to share with you all, but it's going to be a busy week for me! Anyone else have a challenging situation happening too? Can you relate to whats going on in my brain? lol I'm sure I am not alone but when I get together with my family I am the only one watching what I eat, counting my points, and hoping that each Tuesday I see a loss on the scale. :)
Oh! I jumped on the twitter bandwagon...lol I joined yesterday and had 4 people that I didn't know (and didn't want to know) start to follow me! YIKES! So I had to switch to private and you have to ask to follow me- but if you care to know what I am up to please feel free to FOLLOW me! :) tjbooboo

A few din din's
Taco night turned into a taco lettuce wrap night for me. I saw that the points for the taco bell hard taco shells were 3 for 3 points so I decided to cut those points out and have mine on lettuce leaves. I actually enjoyed it and I got to have extra fruit after dinner. :)
Tonight was tv din din night. Yeah we all need an easy night but instead of calling up the local chinese place or pizza I busted out the Safeway brand Eating Right frozen meals. I told you all about the butternut squash raviolis when I bought them on Monday- so I also saw these 2 boxes of frozen veggies.
I cooked all of them in the microwave and served them on a nice plate.
This makes me feel like I am having a nice dinner, a good home cooked meal. :) If you have a Safeway, try these dinners- they are tasty!
This morning Farrah Fawcett died. I was sad, but at the same time glad that she was no longer suffering with cancer. Then I found out that Michael Jackson died. I was shocked. I was out shopping and when I got in the car to come home the radio stations were all playing his music- non stop. I cried! I grew up with his music. I loved him! I feel sad tonight and I can't stop watching all of the news stations covering his death. :(
I guess thats all from me tonight. :(

Jack Sh*t’s Kick-Ass Half-Ass Half-A-Pound Challenge

Now this is a challenge that I can try! 1/2 a pound in a week is more my style seeing how I lose weight like a friggin snail! Jack invites anyone to join in, you just gotta follow some rules. Go check out our favorite funny man's site- he will crack you up! :)
The number on the scale...
...can make your whole day better. What did I see today? 175 even. That is a grand total of 57 pounds. I am thinking that I need to lose another 30 to get to goal. YIKES! I'm scared actually. I think about what I will look like at that weight. I look at old pictures and feel different, but still feel like the fat girl. Man our minds play some serious games with us don't they? lol I am very happy that I saw the 1.2 loss this week, and I feel proud to have come this far. :)
Ok so Dina TAGGED me and I guess I will play along. lol
Here are the rules:
1. Respond and rework; answer the questions on your blog, replace one question that you dislike with a question of your invention & add one more question of your own.
2. Tag eight other people
What is your current obsession? Figuring out how to ONLY eat 24 points a day. lol
What are you wearing today? Capris and a tee shirt

If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go? Anywhere tropical but not too hot.
Which language do you want to learn? secretly I want to learn Armenian so I can understand what Sean's family is saying when I visit them. I know they talk about me and I want to hear what they REALLY say not just what Sean tells me they said. But I would have to learn it on the down-low. lol
What do you love most about where you currently live? Cool trails, being able to walk to get coffee, groceries, frozen yogurt, all of the city benefits without feeling like living in a big city. Nice area to rent but to pricy to buy- so its a good deal. :)
What is your favorite color? Pink
What is your favorite piece of clothing in your own wardrobe? since Im not splurging on clothing due to it being semi-disposable- I don't really have anything...OH wait! My friend Tina gave me a cute Gap denim jacket and it's a medium so Im impressed I can fit into it. lol
Describe your personal style? Jeans & t-shirt kinda gal.
If you had $300 now, what would you spend it on? shoes
What are you going to do after this? not sure
Your favorite smell? I like when I wake up and Sean is gone already but I can smell his cologne that he sprayed in the bathroom. I also like to sniff his neck when he hugs me. :)
Do you collect anything? I have a tinkerbell collection but didn't unpack it, and I have a lot of fairy stuff- also still in boxes.
What makes you follow a blog? Humor, honesty, hard work- what other H word works here? lol
Do you like to comment on blogs or just lurk? Comment
What’s one thing you dream of doing? being successful, making a nice chunk of money doing something that I love doing, but I haven't figured it out yet. lol
What is your biggest regret? not trying to lose weigh earlier in my life
What is your favorite thing to do on a rainy day? watch a movie with Sean
Do you have a tattoo? Yes
What are your favorite books? do cookbooks count? lol
Are you left handed, right handed, ambidextrous, or a little of both? Right
Well Im being lazy by not taggin people on this one. It's not that Im not interested in seeing other peoples answers so if you read this and wanna give it a shot please do, I will be over to read your blog soon! :)

It's A Strawberry!
Aww look! My plant(s-all 4 in one pot on my deck) finally produced a lil baby berry! :)
I saved it to show Sean. I might split it with him. lol

Are all of my grocery shopping pics boring? I think they look kinda the same. lol Actually tonight we are splurging and having filet mignon. I roasted brussle sprouts and butternut squash with some olive oil, salt & pepper and also baked sweet potatoes. YUM! One night this week will be TV dinner night. I try to fit those in here and there to give myself a break. I cook breakfast, lunch and dinner all week and well who doesn't need a break! :) If you have a Safeway store by you they have a line of food called EATING RIGHT. The TV dinners are cheap- like 5 for $10 cheap. WOW! I like them WAY better than Lean Cuisines or WW Smart Ones. The ones in the TOP picture are butternut squash raviolis. I bought some frozen vegetables to add to them to make them more of a meal-beef it up a bit. The flavor of the ravioli filling and the light sauce are delicious. Anyway- if you can try these frozen dinners they have a bunch of varieties and so many of them are good.
For lunch I quickly prepared my favorite WW black bean soup. This soup is SO good, very easy to make and you get a HUGE 1 1/2 cups! Very filling!
Here is a peek at the recipe:
Spicy Black Bean Soup
1 onion, diced
4 cloves of garlic, minced
3 (15 1/2 ounce) cans black beans-undrained
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
1 (14 1/2 ounce) can vegetable broth
1 (14 1/2 ounce) can diced tomatoes with green chiles
1 (11 ounce ) can corn, drained
1. Spray dutch over with non stick spray and place over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic; cook, stirring occasionally, until the onion is softened, about 5 minutes.
2. Place the onion mixture, 1 can of the beans, cumin, and red pepper in a blender and pulse until smooth: return the mixture to the dutch oven. Place one more can of beans in the blender and pulse until smooth; add to the dutch oven. Add the remaining can of beans, the broth, tomatoes, and corn to the dutch oven; bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer, uncovered, until slightly thickened, 20-25 minutes.
Per serving (1 1/2 cups) CAL 186/FAT 0/FIBER 10 = 3 points
Ok, I need to catch up on reading blogs, finish my laundry and take out the veggies from the oven! Busy lil bee-bzzzzzz! Weigh in TOMORROW! Why does it always feel like the night before weigh in? lol I feel like I did really well all week, especially with points and planning. I did manage to get in some exercise this week and I am crossing my fingers for a loss tomorrow! Maybe I should do my toes too, just in case? lol
Have a great night everyone! :)

YUMMY BBQ SAUCE!
A BIG THANK YOU to my blog exchange buddy Carlos for sending me a bottle of BBQ sauce from his road trip adventure! We busted it out tonight for our Father's Day BBQ dinner. We grilled some chicken and gave JACKS sauce a unanimous thumbs up! My Mom and I joked that next time we BBQ her and I are going to hide this bottle inside and sneak some on to just our plates. We don't want to share it! lol Chicken, sweet potatoes, white corn, tomato slices, and fruit was on the menu- and MAN was it tasty! :)

Sean and I made oatmeal cranberry cookies on Saturday to give to our Dad's. Shhh don't tell them that they are a Weight Watcher recipe! hehe :) They were really tasty! Both our Dad's liked them, but I ended up telling my Dad that they were WW and only 2 points each, he told me that he had about 8 points worth already. lol I tried to explain the WW math rules that 2 doesn't always equal 4....oh nevermind! lol We had a fun day together and to top it all off my Dad helped me wash my car! Who's better than him huh? :)
Oh! On Saturday Sean and I finally got out to go play bocce! We had the best time! He loved it and Im so happy that I bought the nicer set! We went to a park and played- then hit Panera Bakery for lunch. It was a fun time. :)

I hope everyone had a great day! I enjoyed spending it with my family today, Happy Father's Day Dad! I love you! :) tj

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!
My Dad is by far THE BEST! He is fun, playing goofy games with us when we were kids and...well now as well! He taught us to play the famous holiday game "card toss", we play horseshoes in the pit that him and I made in the back yard, and he is a great Wii bowler- although we have to remind him to not hit the TV screen! lol Dad always helps me with any car problem that comes up, and reminds me to change the oil, and get the tires checked. It's all of the little things that he does that make him the best. Oh and he calls me skinny now. :) Each week when I see him he asks me if they clapped for me at the WW meeting. :) Thanks Dad for being so special to me! XOXO

**WARNING BLOOD AND EXCUSES**
On 6/11 I did this while in the kitchen cooking:
You might be wondering how someone can get a foot injury like this while cooking. Well if you are me, with a nickname like booboo...it is possible. I dropped the bottom half of the blender on my foot. Yes folks, steel toe boots should be a requirement for me at all times. Ugghh! So for 3 days I put a band-aid on it with anti-biotic cream but it was all soggy and yuckie. The only shoes I could wear were flippies. This makes me really sad because I have new sandals in my closet that have yet to be worn. :( Being unable to put on socks or my tennis shoes gave me the excuse that I could not go for a walk. I would have to sit n the couch and rest my poor foot all day. Whoa-is-me. Yeah so I did that for a few days... then I realized I could do some Wii games barefoot. I could possibly lift weights shoeless- but don't go dropping any 5 pounders on your toes now TJ! lol SO Then I rolled out the yoga mat- posed a little, did some ab work on my exercise ball...and ya know what? Im doing all of these without shoes on! So excuses can come up. I am BIG on using them, but there is ALWAYS something you can do to get movin! My foot is getting better with the help of this stuff (new skin) I found at the pharmacy. It makes a seal over the wound to help it heal without being wet from the band-aid all the time.
I think it would be great for blisters- check it out if you need something like this- it works great!
I also remembered that at a WW meeting a few weeks ago a fellow member mentioned that she liked to use the ONDEMAND feature on our cable to exercise. She does a walking program...so yesterday (without shoes on!) I tried it out. I loved it- and I walked a mile in my house. It was cool. You do side steps, knee lifts, and she keeps you interested. There is a 2 and 3 mile routine as well. So no more excuses from me! There really is something out there to do no matter what your excuse is, even for a booboo girl like me. :) hehe

Take THAT Taco Bell!
I used to be a big time taco bell fan. I always ordered 3 items...sometimes even 4! If I did not eat all 4 in one sitting I had a snack for later, fat people think ahead you know. lol After I ate, my gallbladder-less body gave me grief for what I had done to it. I was always sick after fast food, yet I kept eating it, kept ENJOYING it! Why would you enjoy something that made you sick each time you ate it is beyond my understanding. I was addicted, I loved fast food. I loved it so much that sometimes I would go to 2 places in order to get a good combination of grease. For example if I wanted a hot dog from Casper's I would also go across the street to Jack in The Box to get fries- because Casper's does not sell french fries, only bags of chips. Seems perfectly OK to me right? No...not right, not even close. I would be punished for eating that way later on in the bathroom- actually sometimes almost immediately after my last bite, or even during the feast. I know, I know TMI! So where am I going with all of this negativity about the fast food? I beat it! I do not need it in my life and BEST of all I take a craving for NACHOS and turn it into a healthy meal that does not make me sick! Whoo hoo
Speaking of nachos.... feast your eyes on my dinner tonight:
Ok here is my breakdown of points for each ingredient:
chips (one LaTortilla Factory tortilla)=1
4 ounces taco meat-lean ground turkey=4
2 tablespoons light sour cream=1
1 ounce reduced fat mozzarella cheese=1
tomato/jalepeno/hot sauce/green onion=0
GRAND TOTAL =7
**NOTE** I like to add my sour cream to a snack size baggie, cut one of the corners -and squeeze it out to top my nachos. :)
Here is my competition- Taco Bell's Nachos Bellgrande:
Here is the breakdown of NI from their website for ya: CAL 760/FAT 42/FIBER 12= 18 POINTS!
Which one looks better? lol I must say that I am super full. Best of all Im not sick, and I LOVED every bite of my dinner! See how you CAN make what you like at home AND make it so much better for you. That is what helps me! It means I can eat things I like, not feel like I am on a DIET (oohh I how I hate that word!) For Petes sake I eat NACHOS! I dont know Pete is but I had to use his name. :) hehe
RANDOM WEIRDNESS-Ok so I noticed when I went to cut into my tomato that CARLOS has his own line of produce out there now! Dude you really are " on the crab" lol

Who am I?
Weigh in this morning was a loss. Only .6 but all of those add up. They have added up to my lowest weight since, well a very, very long time. 176.2 With WW that makes 37.4 pounds and pre-ww 56 pounds. Wow. :)
This got me thinking about when my mind will catch up with my body. When will I feel skinny- or skinnier? Don't get me wrong I feel great, much better than I used to feel, but I still have that fat girl mentality. I still cringe when I walk into a room, look around to see if I am the biggest. I still head over to the plus size department, still grab a bigger size than I need- as pointed out several times by different friends who I went shopping with recently. I think that I am so used to being overweight, feeling FAT, feeling down about myself that I mentally have not changed along with my body. Gee, you would think that being "The Slowest Loser" (I might be making a reality show soon lol) my brain would have all the time it needed to catch up to my slow as a snail weight loss. Anyone else feel like they are getting to know the new person in the mirror? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? lol That is my Ferris Bueller line that I always say when I waiting for someone to answer me. lol Another great quote from an equally great movie that I can pretty much recite start to finish:
"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." ~ Ferris Bueller

Night before WI!
Ok so I don't know what was up with me this morning but I decided instead of my usual breakfast sandwich, I was going to try something different!
in that bowl is Fage Yogurt 0%, one of my home made granola bars cut into small pieces, and some raspberries! This was really tasty. YUM!
I had taken a few slices of turkey breast from the dinner that I had at my parents and wanted to turn it into turkey salad for lunch today. I swear I would have paid $10 bucks for this sandwich at some fancy cafe with those outdoor tables with umbrellas! lol
I got the bread for FREE, yes FREE! A local news station does a free giveaway on Friday's and it's always something different- so you mail a self addressed stamped envelope and you get a coupon in the mail. A few weeks ago it was for this Alvarado Street Bakery bread. This coupon saved me $4.49! Wow! Great tasting bread, and it is good for ya too! I saw that they had cinnamon raisin so I decided to try it out.
Very good, especially with the sandwich combo I had today.
I had acupuncture done today. I have done it before but then we moved and I never got hooked up with someone closer to our new place. It went well today, I go back next week too. It helped ease the tightness in the muscles in my back last time pretty well. So I am hopeful that I will get some relief from this session as well. :)
Breakfast for dinner is a treat to me. Actually breakfast ANY time of the day is right up my alley as well! lol Tonight I took some onions and bell peppers- diced them up. Cut some yellow potatoes into pieces and tossed with some canola oil, salt & pepper. I threw them on a cookie sheet and baked them for 35 minutes, maybe a little longer actually. :) Then I made two eggs over easy and called it dinner! Fabulous, easy, and oh so yummy!
Weigh in looms over my head tomorrow. I STILL after all this time feel nervous stepping on that damn scale! lol What is WRONG with me? Anyway, I have not done any exercise. I know I needed to rest when my back flared up but it's time to get movin again. ::sigh:: Oh fun! lol
Julie over at New Start~New Life was in shock at the collection of recipe books that I have and asked me if I have a favorite. YIKES! I love them all equally! lol I really do enjoy all of my Weight Watcher cook books- I dont have to figure out the points for the recipes so that is a HUGE plus. I also have been marking a lot of recipes in my new Eat Clean Diet Cookbook. I made a baked oatmeal recipe from that book yesterday and put it into containers for Sean to take for breakfast. I have never been an oatmeal person but this came out so good! It reminded me of oatmeal cookies! Next time I make it I will take a picture.
Hope everyone is doing well and had a good Monday. :) bye

2009 CHAMPIONS! WTG LAKERS!

I am a HUGE Laker Fan! I was jumping up and down just a second ago as they won their 15th NBA Finals! It was a great series and I loved every second of the action. Im just glad that its over, oh and that the LAKERS WON! YIPPEE! Ok so I already ordered my championship tee shirt but I am nervous that I didn't order the right size. I almost ordered two to see what fits! lol I will take a pic of it on me when it comes! Im excited!!
For the games festivities we made a pizza. I get the whole wheat pizza dough fresh from Trader Joe's in the refrigerator section. I added it all to the WW recipe builder and if you split this pizza into 4 servings, which is a HUGE portion it's only 8 points! I was stuffed after I ate! It really came out great. We topped it with reduced fat mozzarella, red onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms. YUM!
Dessert was yummy too!
I was all excited about the game and the pizza but I forgot that I took pictures when we ate lunch. We have a favorite salad place in Berkeley. There is usually a line out the door but we try to get there before noon to beat it. Luckily we did today! We made the mistake once of ordering two of these salads. Let me just tell you this is the biggest salad your eyes will ever see! There is no way I can finish it on my own, so we share. As you can see there is no way we can BOTH finish the entire salad! So heres some pics to share, I had to take a pic of the cute flowers on the table too. :)
I was asked by Gigi over at Chunky Monkey Mama How I come up with my ideas for meals. Sometimes I make stuff up, other times I sit down with a stack of cookbooks or magazines to get ideas. Here is a peak at my collection.
I am still smiling from my teams win! I hope everyone had a FANTASTIC weekend! :)
