I was craving chinese food. Uh oh! If I head out my front door and walk in any direction I can easily be faced with four different places. I have only been to one of them, when we first moved in, but the temptations are too easy to get my hands on if I go more often. So I opened my freezer, took out 3 chicken tenders(4 ounces) -ran them under hot water just long enough to be able to chop them up. Sprayed PAM in a pan, threw in the chicken.

Diced up some veggies,

and measure out 1/4 cup of this great curry sauce from Trader Joe's for only 80 calories a serving.

This was a fast, healthy lunch and I love the fact that I dont feel bad for satisfying a craving. Let's be honest here, I feel better about the fact that I didn't have to tell the waitress at the Chinese restaurant that I didnt want the egg roll -when God knows I could have eaten a dozen of them. :) Wheww There is ALWAYS a healthy option! I just ate a huge plate of chicken curry that came out to only 5 points! WOW!

I am so happy that I picked Weight Watchers to guide me on my weight loss journey- THIS MY FRIENDS IS NOT A DIET! :)
I was looking through some old pictures that I have in frames. We have been living here for a while now, but I didnt bring all of my stuff with us. I left a few frames and decorations in storage but came across a picture that I did bring. It is one of my favorites of Sean and I. It is from August 2005 and we were on a cruise. We were both so relaxed, so happy, and the picture always made me smile to look at it. I unwrapped it this morning and cringed. My fat face stared at me! I don't even want to put it up. Then of course I had to put it next to a newer picture to see the difference- because in my mind I still feel like this girl:

This is July 2009:

Does anyone else want to take all of the old pictures down? Hide them in fact? lol I used to love that picture, now I can't stand to look at it. I also wonder why it took me so long to do something about my weight. I am not finished, but I am so much happier that I am doing this. It is DO-ABLE! :) More importantly I feel better, so much better. :)
Have a great afternoon everyone! :)
Holy sh*t TJ! What a difference. Although I think you look very pretty in both photo's I'd be lying if I said you don't look differnet and ALOT smaller!
ReplyDeleteWow! You do notice the difference right away. You look great in both photos, but I know that you are feeling healthier now.
ReplyDeleteBTW...that chicken looks dang good!
Holy sh*t, TJ! What an incredible transformation.
ReplyDeleteAnd you're so right about this not being a diet. I see no end in sight...
Love the new pic, TJ. I saw the Mother's Day photo taken of me and the little man and was horrified. Talk about motivation!
ReplyDeleteYou are looking great! But if you ask me...feeling better is were it's at.
ReplyDeleteYour food always looks so yummy. I recomended you blog to my weight loss group. You should have lots more followers. Well ok, there are just 4 of us..lol
Great job on .2 lb loss. It all adds up...you're living proof!
Yep WW is a great programme. I love it.
ReplyDeleteMan, the difference between the two photos is extraordinary - you look great!
I made your granola bars yesterday - they are yummy!
OMG! Looking good...looking good. Great minds think alike because I just picked up some curry seasoning today. I want to try another recipe in my eating for life cookbook. Special seasonings like curry are expensive. I was also going to purchase Tumeric. But that is expensive too, so I put it right back on the shelf.
ReplyDeleteAnywho...WW is great. You wrote that you're wondering why it took you so long to decide to lose weight. Well I'm wondering why was I paying for the services and NOT going to the meetings for serveral months. That's crazy!!!
I love the fact that I can eat real food on WW. I'm sorry y'all but I'm eating. I hate when people give me the "you can eat that look." Yes I can eat it. I have to then explain that WW is not a deprevation diet. It's a lifestyle change. Keep up the good work. Too bad you can't mail that curry chicken dish...lol.
Dang that post was long. Sorry :-}
ReplyDeleteGreat job TJ, you look terrific!
ReplyDeleteYou do look wonderful. Don't hate the old pictures though, because even though you may not have loved the way you looked, the memories outside your weight are important!
ReplyDeleteThis speaking from personal experience!
My progress pictures are not this advanced. boooooooo. but yay for yours!
ReplyDeletethat homemade chinese food looks scrumptious. i always forget that i dont always have to order in chinese food. good reminder.
*high fives* to feeling much much better!
Wow! What a great picture! I kept pictures of me up after I lost the weight for motivation...But now that I've regained, I get jealous of my skinny pictures!
ReplyDeleteWhat a difference!
ReplyDeleteLike you, I have to do photo comparisons sometimes to see the real me now, because I still see myself as I was 1 1/2 years ago. I have a hard time looking at pictures of me when I was my heaviest, as I can't believe I let things get that out of control. As much as I want to, that's one of the main reasons I haven't posted any before pictures on my blog.
You are looking great! I need to borrow some of your motivation!
ReplyDeleteHOLY CRAP - You look fantastic! And per usual, your lunch made me lick my screen. :o) (And you are right about WW. Its corny to say and everyone cringes to hear it, but I don't feel like I'm dieting...I feel like I'm changing my attitude about food. YAY!)
ReplyDeleteGuess what - I FINALLY did the sour cream thing in the bag -- only I did it with plain yogurt (I was substituting it for sour cream on my "tacos"). I posted a picture. Its not as good as your pictures, but you can totally see the magic. Thanks for the trick!
Ughhh, I hate looking at myself in pictures!!! I try not to even let people take them, but what can ya do *sigh* You are doing an awesome job. Can't wait 'til I get my "after" pic:)
ReplyDeleteI want a Trader Joe's!!!!! I make my own curry sauce...yours is easier!
ReplyDeletePics. Yep, most of them I hate looking at. One I just love. We had a family pic taken about 23 years ago..think the 'baby' was 3. He's 26 now. I took up over half the picture. Never, ever put it out anywhere. Last year we were all together again for an extended family portrait. I'd taken this picture with me and had the photog pose us the same way. I had that picture, plus the old one framed together. I just LOVE looking at that one! I actually blogged the picture a long time ago. Here it is.

Loved looking at your smiling faces. ALL of them!
I love weight watchers too...I am thinking of rejoining.
ReplyDeleteI just stumbled upon your blog, it's terrific! Way to go on making your own food instead of grabbing chinese!
such a huge difference great job... also yum
ReplyDeleteLunch made me hungry for Chinese :-)
ReplyDeleteTotally can tell a difference in the pics. I have this type of thing going on everytime I pull out my driver's license Ahhh!
WOW! You look great! Way to go on the weight loss. Keep up the great work. I love chinese food. That looks so yummy
ReplyDeleteTJ great idea for fulfilling a craving. It looks soo good too and healthy. I didn't take as many pictures when I was huge. But the ones I did I always wore baggy shirts and stuff because I was embarrassed. I think its good to keep the pictures around to remind yourself of where you came from and where you will go if you get lazy and make bad choices again.
